26 players competed in the 2017 Bridging Villages charity tournament held on Sept. 17 at the University of Winnipeg. Winning first place in the Open section were Joshua Gerona and Gilbert Perez with a score of 4.0. Ryne Swift and James Atem shared the Under 1980 class prize with a score of 3.0.
In the U1600 section, Aalekh Patel won first place with a perfect 5.0 score. Sharing second was Joshua Huston-Earle and Keith Gannon with 3.5. Winning the U1200 class prize was newcomer Huy Hoang with 3.0 points. Elazar Schwartz and Nazar Viznytsya took second place in the class with 2.5 points.
