A total of 60 entrants over 3 sections contested the 2023 September FIDE Rapids at St. Mary’s Road United Church on September 16.
In the Morning U1500 section, Edgardo Nofuente took first with perfect 5-0 score. Martin Riquelme was top U1300/unrated with 4 points. Mason Bilugan took second place money, also with 4 points. Amangeldi Abdildin, Evan Miles, and Rhailey Punay, all with 3.5 points, shared the 3rd place prizes. Chenghong Zhang and George Zhelev shared the remaining U1300/unrated prizes with 3.5 points.
In the U1625 afternoon session, Matthew Lehotsky and Jaimin Patel shared the top prizes with 4 points.
In the afternoon Open section, Collin Anderson and Martin Riquelme Bravo tied for first with 4.5 points. Top U1800 was won by Jack Kreklewich with 3.5 points. Joe Zhou, Cory Letain,, and Jim Melnyk shared 2nd U1800, with 3 points.
Tournament Director/Organizer was Al MacPherson with assistance from John Klokow, Blair Rutter, and Tony Boron.
