New players without CFC Memberships must pre-register. Onsite registration will not be accepted for new players.
All 3 events:
- 10am start times
- $$ prizes depending on entries.
- MCA anti-cheating protocols in effect.
- Recording of moves not required.
- All players under age 12 must have a guardian in attendance.
- Some rounds may feature forced byes depending on player count.
Feb 15; Rapid Chess Open
- 6 round swiss
- Rating pairing formula is CFC quick. Then CFC standard. Otherwise, FIDE.
- Lunch break
- Time control of 15 minutes plus 10 second increment
- CFC and FIDE rated.
- Players are not forfeited for late attendance.
- Tournament expected to end at approx 6pm
Feb 16; Blitz Chess Open
- 12 round swiss, followed by playoff rounds.
- Top 8 players qualify for playoff brackets with elimination rounds.
- For playoff qualification and seeding, tie break formula is direct encounter, then Buchholz-cut-1, then Buchholz, then drawing of lots.
- Seed 1 plays seed 8 and so on.
- Playoffs are double rounds with Armageddon tie breaks.
- Time control of 3 minutes plus 2 second increment
- Armageddon; top seed chooses color. Time controls are 4 minutes plus 2 seconds for white and 3 minutes plus 2 seconds for black. Black wins in a drawn game.
- Rating pairing formula is FIDE Blitz. Then CFC quick. Then FIDE Rapid. Otherwise CFC standard.
- Tournament is CFC and FIDE rated.
- Players are forfeited for non-attendance at round start.
- Swiss Tournament expected to end at approx 130pm. Playoffs to end by 3pm.
Feb 17; Freestyle – 960 Open
- 5 rounds
- Rating pairing formula is CFC quick. Then CFC standard. Otherwise, FIDE.
- Time control of 15 minutes plus 10 second increment.
- Tournament is not rated.
- Positions will be revealed 5 minutes before each round. Pre-round engine analysis is not allowed.
- Tournament expected to end at approx 4pm.
