The Manitoba Chess Association will hold the 2026 Yanofsky Memorial, a FIDE and CFC rated standard tournament September 5-6-7 at the University of Manitoba.

Capacity Limit is 50 players.
Players must be at least 16 years of age (born 2010 or previous) or have regular CFC ratings above 1500 or have played in a previous MCA weekend tournament.
There will be an open section and an under-1800 section.
- Round 1, Sat 10am
- Round 2, Sat 230pm
- Round 3, Sun 10am
- Round 4, Sun 230pm
- Round 5, Mon 10am
The location is the Cross Common Room at St John’s College, 92 Dysart Road. Free parking is available in K lot.

Players must pre-register. There will be no onsite registration.
- Time control; 90 minutes plus 30 second increment.
- $50 early-bird registration entry fee to chessmanitoba@gmail.com before Thursday August 27th at 11pm.
- $60 regular entry.
- Note: entry fees are not fully refundable when players cancel registration
- Note: players who register (pay) and simply don’t show up will not receive a full refund.
- Player’s must be (cfc standard) rated no less than 1700 to play up into the open section.
- Recording of moves required.
- No agreed draws before move 31.
- Players are forfeited for non-attendance 30 minutes past the round scheduled start time.
- Players may request two, ½ point byes for rounds 1-5. Must request before round 3.
- Cash prizes based on entries.
- MCA anti-cheating protocols in effect.
- All players under age 12 must have a guardian in attendance.
- Some rounds may feature forced byes depending on player count.
Under-1800 Section
- Players must be unrated or have CFC standard ratings below 1800.
- Secondary rating will be CFC quick, then FIDE.
- Unrated players (no CFC standard) are ineligible for top prize in this section.
